The coworking space I’ve been working out of and helping relaunch got coverage in the Somerville Beat! I’ve been helping out through a spatial ‘makeover’ making it less corporate looking and more fresh, upbeat and colorful (I’ll have to post some before and after pictures,) I also helped come up with the name which I think is rather clever: ‘Creative Union’ (subtitle: A home for creatives, designers and entrepreneurs in the heart of Union Square.)
There are a few lines from the interview that I really like as I think they get at the potential of the space:
“We’re a constellation in the creative work happening in Somerville. We’re in the heart of Union Square.” Part of what I love about being in Union Square is the multitude of creative projects and ventures in the neighborhood. We’re trying to make Creative Union another place for folks to meet, work, come together and collaborate.
Somerville as a city is “open to collaborative, creative spirit and entrepreneurial spirit without sacrificing enjoying life.” That attitude is part of what I missed when I moved from San Francisco and Berkeley. I hadn’t found in the Boston area until I started spending time in Union Square. What I love about the neighborhood is the sense of playful creativity, the desire to make something, start something, just because it’s fun and it would be really cool to see it take off–not just because you’re ambitious or it’s part of your ten-year plan. I’m really happy to be part of this new space.
